Configuration reference

This page lists everything you can configure in Product Sorting, plus the data and permissions the plugin adds. The plugin settings are global: they apply to every category and every sales channel. You'll find them under Extensions › My extensions › Product Sorting › Configure. Whether a category uses a custom order is set per category, on the category's Sorting tab. The fallback sorting is Shopware's own Default sorting per sales channel, see Configure the storefront sorting.

Plugin settings

The table below is generated from the plugin's config.xml.

Storefront behaviour

SettingTypeDefaultDescription
useAsDefaultWhereActive — Use the custom order as default sorting where it is activebooltrueWhen on, categories with an active custom order open in that order. When off, the option is only offered in the sorting dropdown.
previewMaxTiles — Maximum tiles loaded into the admin previewint2000Upper bound for the number of listing tiles the sorting canvas collects per category.

Name of the sorting option

The same card also has the field Name of the sorting option (setting key sortingOptionLabel). The generated table leaves it out because it's a custom field rather than a plain setting. It shows the storefront name of the plugin's sorting option (default: Recommended / Empfohlen). The globe icon next to it opens a dialog where you set the name per language. A language left empty shows the name of the default language, and the default language must have a name. Editing it requires the system settings permission (system.system_config). See Rename the Recommended option.

Per-category settings

SettingWhereDefaultDescription
Custom order activeCategory › Sorting tab › Custom order cardOffSwitches the custom order on for this category in every sales channel. While it's off, the category behaves exactly as without the plugin, and your arrangement is kept.
Sales channel / OrderCategory › Sorting tab › Listing — as shoppers see it cardAll Sales Channels, inheritedChooses the preview channel. For a specific sales channel, the inheritance icon on the Order row decides whether it inherits the shared order or has its own.

Data the plugin stores

EntityPurposeMain fields
ssd_product_sorting_configOne row per category that has been configured.categoryId (+ version), active
ssd_product_sorting_positionOne row per placed tile and scope.categoryId (+ version), salesChannelId (empty for the shared order), scopeKey (shared or the sales channel ID), displayGroup (the tile's key), productId (reference product, cleared if the product is deleted), position (slot), buried (moved to the bottom)
product_sorting row ssd-product-sortingThe storefront sorting option Recommended. It's locked, so it's hidden from Settings › Shop › Products, and it's only offered on categories with an active custom order.Label per language

Both plugin entities are available through the Admin API only. Headless storefronts read the order through the Store API listing route with order=ssd-product-sorting, which returns only that sales channel's own order.

Uninstalling the plugin with Remove all app data permanently turned on removes both tables and the sorting option. Without it, your orders are kept for a later reinstall.

Permissions

The plugin has no role of its own. It extends Shopware's Catalogues › Categories permissions:

RoleCan do on the Sorting tab
Categories View (viewer)Open the tab, preview any sales channel, search, and use Show on the stale-pins banner. Read-only: no dragging, no tile actions, no Reset order, no Clean up, no inheritance switching.
Categories Edit (editor)Everything the viewer can, plus switch the custom order on or off, arrange tiles, reset orders, give sales channels their own order and clean up stale pins.

Renaming the sorting option requires the system settings permission (system.system_config).

A role saved before the plugin was installed keeps its old privilege list until you open and save it again under Settings › System › Users & permissions.

Features not in this version

Copying an order to other categories, bulk starting orders ("pin all by newest / bestseller / A–Z …") and CSV import/export are planned as free updates. They aren't part of this version.
