Create a way to redeem points

A way to redeem (a spend rule) lets customers turn their points into value — a cart discount, a voucher, or another reward you define. This guide assumes customers are already earning points; if not, start with Create a way to earn points.

Set the global exchange rate first

All redemption rules share one exchange rate, set in Settings → Extensions → Reward Engine → Points per 1 unit of default currency. The default 100 means 100 points are worth 1 unit of your default currency. Carts in other currencies convert automatically via the Shopware currency factor. Set this once before building redemption rules — see the configuration reference.

Create the rule

  1. Go to Marketing → Reward Engine → Ways to redeem and click Add rule.
  2. Name the rule — this name can be customer-facing, so make it clear (e.g. Spend points for a cart discount).
  3. Give — choose what the customer receives when they redeem.
  4. Advanced — apply a Rule Builder condition to limit who can redeem or when (for example, minimum cart value).
  5. Set it Active and Save.

How customers redeem

Once active, eligible customers can apply the redemption from the storefront within the limits you set. The points spent are deducted from their balance and recorded in Point Activity, and the movement is written to the refund-safe log.
